DJ Paul

Rapper / Producer / Wild Man

“Being a modern-day Outlaw is being yourself and living your own life and taking your art to a whole nother level.”

DJ Paul has been living the #ModernDayOutlaw lifestyle since the late 80’s as a popular DJ, rapper, and producer. After making a name for himself in Memphis, Paul was introduced to Juicy J who joined him and Lord Infamous to form the group that would later be known as Three 6 Mafia. Three 6 soon became known for their dark themes and the bass-heavy beats that Paul himself produced. In 2006, they became the first hip-hop group to win an Academy Award for Best Original Song with “It’s Hard Out Here For a Pimp” from the Hustle & Flow soundtrack. DJ Paul started Scale-a-Ton Entertainment in 2008 as an outlet for his solo records and those of the new artists he now produces.

Meet DJ Paul

Who  influenced you early in your career?

LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Ghetto Boys, NWA, 2 Live Crew

What was it like in the early days of hip hop when the media and politicians really seemed to fear what you were doing?

I think it made it better because it promoted gangster rap and made it more kick ass lol!

What inspires you these days?

I’m my own biggest fan so I do it for me and my longtime loyal fans. Beer and Swishers help as well lol.

What would you be doing today if not for hip hop?

Probably time lol. I was bad growing up and most my friends are in or just getting out. Or dead.

How does what you do make you a modern-day Outlaw?

Cause I have those Old School outlaw ways like Burt Reynolds but with the New School swag added.

One last question – who run it?
