1. Congrats on being chosen for our Swisher Sound ambassador program! How does it feel to be partnering with Swisher in this capacity?
It’s a blessing to be partnering with a brand that has deep roots in the music culture & continues to grow as a brand & positively pushes the careers of many artists. When I told my team about this opportunity my whole team geeked out and we bought out the whole case of Swisher Sweets at the nearby gas station!
2. Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from, how you got into the industry, etc?
My name is ~YT~ & I’ma 5’10”, skin & bones, white teeth hippy. My team & I just moved to the big city of Chicago from the small corn town of Canton, IL with the goals of spreading my sound to go from locally to globally! I got into the industry at the age of 18 when I dropped my first mixtape & it landed me some big gigs opening up for some bigger artist’s (Sammy Adams, Shwayze, Felly & more). Now at the age of 23 I have grown a steady independent fan base, headlined my own shows, dropped over 60+ records, released three studio projects & started a music label (OceanMindedMusic).
3. For those who don’t know, describe your artistry and your style of music.
My sound & artistic image is cut from a different cloth than anyone in the industry & this is because everything that is released to the fans is made in house. The team of OceanMindedMusic & I make our own beats, Engineer our songs & have a detailed eye on our brand perspective. When studying the game before I started creating my own songs the artists that stood out to me & caught my ear were always the artists with the best sonics, hooks & story-telling & overall vibe that can take you to a different place for the moment. Those key elements are what I strive to achieve to give the best listening experience possible to my fans!
4. Talk to us about what you’ve been up to this year so far. Any new music? Shows?
So far in 2019 I’ve released a self-produced project titled “309-$$$-$$$$” that represented my life from Jan.- May, headlined some shows & been working on my next wave of content.
5. What’s on the horizon for the rest of 2019?
Since I just graduated college this year from Western Illinois University I am now full-time working on my music career & running a music label. TBA are shows in the Chicago area, new day-to-day videos, new music/music videos & a nation-wide tour that we are booking up cities now (release dates & locations TBA at the end of the year)
